Omniva to expand parcel machine network in Lithuania
International logistics and technology company Omniva will install 20 new parcel machines across different regions of Lithuania this spring. However, they will look somewhat different from the ones we are used to—they will be simpler to install and designed for smaller communities.
The new-generation parcel machines, also known as community boxes, can be installed in just 15 minutes. They are battery-powered, so no connection to an electrical outlet is required. An internet connection is also unnecessary for their operation, meaning they can be installed virtually anywhere—wherever it is most convenient for local residents.
“The new parcel machines are a flexible and modern solution that improves access to much-needed services. After installing the first units in Lithuania, we will aim to evaluate customer experience and test how the technology performs under different conditions,” says Martti Kuldma, CEO of the Omniva Group.
Despite their compact size and simple installation, the same reliable service is ensured: customers receive a notification with a code, which they use to collect their parcel. After registering a shipment via Omniva’s self-service system, it is also possible to send parcels both within Lithuania and abroad, or to return a shipment.
“The new-generation parcel machines are especially important for smaller towns. We are coordinating their installation with local government and communities. It is clear that they will be placed in strategically convenient locations, such as near a town shop or local administrative office,” notes Tadas Drunga, Head of Omniva team in Lithuania.
Several traditional parcel machines will be replaced with new ones and will be installed in major cities of the country.
