Temporary increase in parcel volumes may affect delivery times in Lithuania
Due to a sharp increase in e-commerce, parcel volumes in Lithuania are currently significantly higher than usual. As a result, some delays in sorting and delivery may occur.
“Since last Friday, we have seen a 35 percent rise in parcel volumes in Lithuania – comparable to the Christmas peak. In addition to higher volumes, shipments are noticeably bulkier than usual, with large shipment volumes up by 400 percent,” said Tadas Drunga, Head of Omniva Lithuania.
The increase coincides with recent developments in Lithuania, where residents have gained access to funds from the second pension pillar, supporting higher consumer spending.
Due to the sharp surge in large shipment volumes, which require more handling time, customers may experience temporary delays in delivery. Parcels may take slightly longer than usual to reach customers, Omniva is actively adjusting our operational capacity and expect the backlog to be cleared as quickly as possible.
“Looking ahead, we expect that the impact may extend beyond just a few days and could influence consumer behaviour over the coming months. We are closely monitoring the situation and continuously adjusting our operations to ensure reliable and timelyservice regardless of volume,” added T. Drunga.
